Don’t panic. This is perfectly normal especially for first time users. Here are some reasons as to why your Pomé is leaking.
1. It is not inserted properly
An indication that your cup is inserted properly is that there should be no dents when it is inserted. It should open like a perfect umbrella. You can check by feeling the bottom of your cup. Try rotating and tugging it until the dents are gone.
2. The airholes of your cup are blocked.
There are 4 air holes on the rim of your cup. These air holes are meant to create a tight seal. If one of them is blocked then the airtight seal is gone. Make sure the holes are always clean before inserting to prevent leaking.
3. Your period is heavy.
Though the cup can hold up about three times more than a menstrual pad, sometimes a person’s period is heavier than the average. If the contents reaches the air holes, this can affect the airtight seal.
We recommend checking on your menstrual cup every two hours if your flow is heavier than usual.
Please consult your doctor regarding this matter as pregnancy can create restrictions when wearing a menstrual cup.
Though this may be the case, you can still wear a menstrual cup after pregnancy if your doctor approves.
